Also check your history settings - it seems to want to keep 90 days worth of history by default, which I think is excessive. The more tabs you keep open, the worse that gets! And it can make a difference to the amount of data it tries to keep in memory - once that runs out it starts to juggle with virtual memory, which in turn can take processor time.
