Default Wanna buy a vowel?

The Museum of Printing in North Andover, MA is having a Type Sale starting Saturday and continuing through August.
Among things on sale: wood and metal fonts, advertising cuts, entire type cabinets with type, proof presses, etc.
More info and a look and some of the stuff on sale is at http://www.museumofprinting.org/Calendar.html

If you're in the Boston area and have a spare afternoon, the Museum is fun. They have a working Linotype, a bunch of photocomposers, and some working presses. Their library includes the complete set of Linotype USA matrix drawings (and now, a bunch of old Seybold reports which I've been unloading there.)

Hi, Howard!

And thanks for posting that. Although I am sorry to see that they cannot keep all of that stuff. One day someone will regret discarding even a character, or so I would bet.

Well, there's probably some duplication and the Museum does not have a lot of space except in its library.
When I was last there a couple of months ago, I talked to the curator about trying to get some type from some of the old photocomposers (VIP, L300, CG something..) He (rightly) doesn't want to undertake the hassle of owning and maintaining a processor.
But the collection includes some interesting VHS tapes which -- whenever I can again see over the top of my desk -- I have volunteered to transfer to DVD for sale to benefit the cause.

Best to you.

That sounds like a worthy endeavor, though maybe a lot of work.
