Default Fireworks for the 4th!

Even if you’re not in New York, you can see some NYC fireworks and the Statue of Liberty.

Got this link from Peter on Tapcis. Couldn’t resist.

P.S. — Click around in the sky.

Ooh, thank you! Since there will be no fireworks here this year (a decision I completely support, BTW) I can now at least enjoy them over New York City any time I choose.

There was a community hearing on the fireworks issue (unbelievable) and there were actually some people arguing in favor of having them anyway. (People haven't seen enough emergency evacuations yet this year??)

Ten families lost their homes and many people lost pets and livestock in the fire here a few weeks ago. My horse was one of many that were evacuated until the threat was over. There has been a fire going for weeks in the Los Padres National Forest (Indians Fire, 81,000 acres burned), and the related Basin Complex Fire (64,000 acres burned, only 3% contained) has forced the evacuation of the 1,400 residents of Big Sur. Untold numbers of firefighters risk their lives fighting every fire.

I heard that one reason the fireworks meeting was held was because the TPTB were concerned about the various charities not getting their few hundred dollars if the fireworks were cancelled. Eh?? Charities exist to help people in need. They would want to risk creating hundreds more families in need? I don't think so. Boggles the mind.

I read about that, and it does indeed boggle the mind.

These fires are really scary. Seeing them in June is amazing; wonder what October will look like?

Once upon a time I had an app for my Palm that did. No sound FX with it, though, IIRC and it was only in black and white.
