Kass, Glad that came in handy.

Sorry to be so long in replying. I fell down the deck stairs going out in the rain to check the last pregnant mares. No broken bones, just a HUGE bruise on the hip, ankle and elbows. The hip bruise started out black, is now progressing through purple, magenta and other odd shades not meant for human flesh! Vicodin is my friend....

Baby was born several days later. See: http://www.woodswell.com/horses/Wood...5%20Foals.html fofr both of this year's babies.

Sounds awful! Glad you had no broken bones (and have a new baby!).

Awwww ... I love this one:

Pretty

I'm so sorry about the slip and the huge bruise. Ouch. Hope the pain and the colors all fade rapidly.

He's swishing it. It's at least twice as long as that pic shows - very cute and a bit curly:

Adorable Tail

I do love "baby pictures".

Met up with a friend and her daughter yesterday running errands and we were both heading back home down the same road when they stopped (just ahead of us) and waved us over to the side with them. They were stopping to look at a friend's 1 day old colt and invited us to join them. The little fellow was soooo sweet! We didn't go too close, though, because it was the mama's first baby and no one really knew if she'd be extra protective.

I thought it fun that there we were getting to see a brand new baby in real life just as all the horsey people here were talking about Kilmer and Goldy. :-)

Kathleen & everyone else,
Thanks! The bruise is healing adn I am getting around better - which means a lot of catching up to do!

Babies are growing fast, but the nice days this week I've had too many other things to get out and take photos. Maybe tomorrow before the rain moves in - now that the farrier has delayed his visit till the weather is better.

Franca, Yep - that's my keeper. She comes from a long line of horses I've owned. Let's see, Miss Billy Jack had Dude's Last Valentine who had Milagro's Smoky Dude, who sired Milagro's Smoky Glitz, the dam of Goldy (who will probably be registered as Milagro's Golden Glitz). The other line of descent is: Smoky Halo had Smoky Milagro who sired Milagro's Smoky Dude.
And then there is Goldy's sire, Jimmy Leo Caan by James Caan. One of my favorite mares was Madame Caan, also by James Caan. But Madame did not produce any color fillies for me - she had loads of chestnut colts, one bay Warmblood cross filly and a couple of dun colts that made great geldings. So I didn't have any of her bloodlines retained in my breeding program. With Goldy, I get all my favorite bloodlines in a pretty color package!
