Thanks. You are very reassuring. Maybe when I get some time, I will take the plunge.

Still need to keep one Classic-capable machine around so I can deal with old PageMaker files. It will be one of the G4s, I guess. I would love to get down to three computers all told, but there always seems to be a need for the old ones.

Anyway, it is time. I have a nice fat external drive (750GB) and hope to set it up as (a) a boot drive, in one partition; and (b) a system backup. Lots of work to do.
