Did you use Edit Avatar or Edit Profile Picture?

I see that you do have a Profile picture uploaded, btw. Unlike many other systems, the profile image and avatar are distinct; you can upload the same image again in the Avatar editor, and that should fix things.

If not, let us know, and we’ll figure out how to fix it.

I used "Edit Picture".

It would probably be better us use Edit Picture because I can use a jpg and have a cleaner image (64K vs 16K, 100 x 100 vs. 80 x 80).

Ah - well, as KT said, your "picture" and your "avatar" are not the same thing. Your picture appears only in your member profile. Your avatar appears under your name in every post. If you would like to have an avatar, you will have to upload separately. It can be the same image or as your profile picture or a different one. KT has two different images. Both profile pics and avatars can be JPGs.

But I see his problem — we have different size and memory limits for avatars and profile pictures.

Need to look into that, see why we do and whether it can or should be revised.

My guess is that since an avatar may appear a zillion times, its size limit is smaller. Each member's profile pic appears only once and can therefore be more "portrait-like".

Now I see the problem. We will look into size and memory limits of these two categories. However, I think avatars actually increase the size of each message by their size. If they could be 64K that would add a lot of luggage for the server and for every reader.

Most avatars are 10K or less (mine is a bit over 2K; my profile picture, a duotone, is 3.3K).

In any event, your profile picture will not be shown in message threads, only in your profile.

Good one! On the west coast, I preferred "Exactamundo!" but here in Colorado few people understand Spanish enough (except of course the Spanish-speaking population) to appreciate the (non-)word.

The forum software is using an "img src=" tag to call the avatar, so the image could appear a quadrillion times and the size of the source file would still be irrelevant.
