Document scanning is there as a specific menu item -- I just checked -- but that might be due to SimpleOCR or to my Works Suite having it from the start.

But it does start up the installation procedure. It is quite possible that since I normally do a Custom Install I told it not to install scanning since my old HP SJ5P does not use VISTA's Windows Image Acquisition (WIA).
