I figured the EVDO would have limited range. As for the grey scale limitation, it sure means they won’t be publishing many books on art or typography that way!

I guess. You have a sharper perception of how this thing could work out than I do.

I don't know whether my perception of it is any sharper ... it's just that I've *wanted* (lusted after ... yep, that's better) a gadget like this for a long long time now.

I just don't want it 400 bucks worth.

Yes, it is still early days for this product, and for the competition. There has long been discussion about how computers, and then the Internet, would replace books and magazines as a storage of humanity's knowledge and culture. So far, the traditional paper media have endured.

I can’t imagine that books, in particular, will ever be supplanted by e-paper of any sort.

If there are disasters on earth, at least some copies of some printed books can persevere, but what happens to bits and bytes?
