Looks as iff many of the features would only work in the US as they rely on something called Whispernet -- never heard of that so I assume it doesn'r exist in the UK.

It's a slightly worrying trend the way hardware manufacturers are tying products in with limited technologies. In the UK the iPhone is only available with an O2 contract. Since the O2 network isn't available anywhere near here there's little value in an iPhone.

If the Kindle could be loaded with pdfs then I could put all those computer manuaals on one -- now that would be a benefit.
