One other minor point re: the LaCie floppy drive. My use of the drive at work was through an oilfield service company that includes the LaCie drives with their gas detector rental package. So what? The key words here are "oilfield" and "rental". They have to be tough and reliable: resistant to bouncing, jarring, dirt, freezing and general abuse. The fact that the company standardized on the LaCie drives is noteworthy, if robustness is a selling point--which in your case, Kathleen, I don't suppose it is.
