>> I never liked Maxell floppies so I've avoided them in other media<<

I think Maxell blanks are excellent. I only buy Maxell CDs (Sam's Club carries the made in Japan Maxells). And I bought lots (like hundreds) of their made in Japan DVDs, but they aren't available anymore. They've shifted production elsewhere.

So I'm not sure about the currently available Maxell DVDs. Same with the Sony DVDs -- the made in Japan ones give me perfect burns every time, but I haven't tried the ones now being made elsewhere.

(I used to go to Office Depot, Staples, etc. when they had Maxells or Sonys on sale and paw through the stacks of cake boxes like an animal, looking for the "Made in Japan" printing on the label. <g>)

I've gotten fair results with TDK -- not as good as the Maxells, Sonys or Verbatims.

YMMV!
