I bought Serif PagePlus 5.0 off ebay for $8, inc. S&H. The improvement over Publisher in print quality is dramatic, and it carries over to PDF.

Hmm, does that mean a later version has even better print quality. The seller told me that beginning with version 10, the set-up made creating books much easier, but she didn't say better.

So, then how does Indesign compare to Serif, and how do its later versions compare to earlier in print quality??

I didn't do anything with Scribus yet, as it takes some getting used to, and I have too much going now, which I guess will never ever change.

I will experiment further in the future.
