Yep, I use GAIM (haven't updated since it became Pidgin so have no idea what, if anything, they might have done to improve or ruin it). GAIM has made my life much easier because it handles many different types of chat (Yahoo, AIM, ICQ, Gmail, and others I've never heard of) all in one convenient app. It has always worked very well for me. Alas, it doesn't do Skype - but only Skype does Skype AFAIK. Still, two chat apps open at once is a whole lot better than five!
