Default Scroll and pan in InDesign

Hi y'all - I've been learning my way around InDesign, so I'm fairly productive now, but one thing is driving me nuts: there doesn't seem to be a way to scroll and pan without reaching over to the scroll sliders. Gr!

Heck, if I can freakin' ZOOM with the mouse wheel, why can't I at least do Pagemaker's Alt-drag to pan around?

Hrmph.

(At least I haven't been stumped by anything else except this stupidy old scroll thing.)
