Default NOD32 Anti-virus program

I have a new computer with a trial version of NOD32 installed, an anti-virus and security program. It has good reviews, but the trial version is annoying. It repeatedly checks for updates, finds three of them, and produces a message asking whether to update or not. It never updates, though, just keeps asking. Yes or no, no update, just ask again.

Until now I have used the paid version of AVG antivirus on my computers, and I am thinking of installing it on this one, too. Any advice?
