Default Broadband speed

http://www.pcpitstop.com/internet/ provides a good way to measure the speed you are getting on your broadband. I am getting 1.7mb which is the maximum offered by Virgin/NTL without paying a lot more money.

Now everything on the internet is videos or TV broadcast, what do I have to have to make thiis useful.
