Default Place PDF in Pagemaker 7.0

I need help placing a pdf in Pagemaker 7.0 (Mac) so that our printing company will be able to print it correctly for our annual catalog. So far, I've tried creating a frame and placing the pdf in the frame. I've also tried just placing the pdf onto the page. Is one way better than the other?

I need to get rid of the page marks in the process and I've just been cropping them out. Is there an easier or better way to do this? Why do people even put them on there?

What resolution should I import the pdf in? I need to make sure it prints in at least 300 dpi.

Also, should I save the pdf within the document in the links manager?

Please help!

It has been quite a while, but as I recall, I treated the PDF exactly like an image. Used the Place function, put it where I wanted it, and linked it (it was always a dangerous practice to embed images in PageMaker). So far as I remember, the PDF res was not altered at all.

This was before PDFs honored page marks, so that was not an issue. Perhaps you should crop the PDF (within Acrobat Pro) to get rid of the marks.
