Default Dover clipart sale

Dover Publications is having a winter sale of many of its clip art books and book/CD sets. A few examples:

Pugin’s Floral Ornament (book/CD), $12.72
Bewick’s Animal Woodcuts (book/CD), $8.22
372 Frames & Borders (book/CD), $9.72
Graphic Attention-Getters (book), $3.57 (with flag & political symbols)

And many more in several different categories.

If this were a CD, I would get it, but as a book to be scanned, no go. Anyway, flags and political symbols are readily available from Google images.

There is also the Open Clipart Library, which is vast and free. The art is in .svg format, which is handled with varied degrees of success by applications -- both commercial and open source.

Adobe Illustrator will open SVGs (regular and compressed). I haven’t tried it myself, but suspect you could then save it as an Illustrator EPS, PDF, or some other format.
