I've tried once or twice to find a sensible directory of them but usually end up getting bogged down in dross.
Go to http://shoutcast.com/ tons of radio stations, and searchable by keyword and category. I use Winamp to listen to them (and bookmark them as well - though some will occasionally move to a new address - then I just go through the list, find them back, re-bookmark them). iTunes is compatible with shoutcast streams - but I won't touch it! (I once installed it and almost immediately unistalled it in horror. I found it intensely stupid in how it approaches "organizing" music. It's forever banned.)

It also got me wondering if there's any software that makes it convenient to actually record a radio programme in the same way that you record TV programmes? Just a thought...
Several options here, too. I have the "Streamripper" plugin for Winamp which, when enabled, attempts to rip individual tracks to MP3s. On some stations this works very well - provided the tracks are clearly labeled and there's a slight pause between one track and the next. If necessary, Audacity can be used to crop, splice and join tracks (provided they didn't fade one into the other on the radio; then it's hopeless, of course). Audacity can also be used to directly record the sound in your computer, from different sources. Both tools are freeware.
