Do colour printers need more memory. I've just taken a look at my HP2605 and see it came with 64Mb RAM as standard.

That printer, of course, comes with a duplexer so it would need to store a page or two at a time.

Oh yes, and don't forget, some of the RAM is used for other things so my 2605 currently reports that of the 64MB only 45 are available.
