Some "style" information would be encoded in the Panose codes - if present. That would enable font managers to group at least those fonts that do have Panose information (but many do not, and the information is relevant only for Latin fonts anyway). That would not be "deduction", of course, but simply reading the panose table and interpreting the information in there. In fact, that's what Panose was designed for (but its design lacks qualifications for most non-latin scripts: Wikipedia: "PANOSE definitions exist for Latin Text, Latin Script, Latin Decorative, Iconographic, Japanese Text, Cyrillic Text and Hebrew.").

But it is a theoretical capability - I have not actually seen any font manager that does this.
