Default Why does this look dreary?

I set up a forum a few weeks ago. At first the default color scheme looked good to me. In fact, I took the risk of installing a release candidate version because I thought its new color scheme was the best ready-made I could find. But now it looks dreary to me. And not because the forum is dead. The look brings me down as soon as hit it. And this is not true of other forums that use blues.

I have given up trying to figure this out myself. If anyone finds the site dreary, and can explain why, please let me know. Here's the link: http://cfsfmla.com/
