Default A day in the life of ... the UK

Today is the day for all UK citizens and residents to join in what might be the biggest single blog event in the UK: a bit like the mass observation diaries they used to keep last century. Find out more here:

http://www.historymatters.org.uk/output/page96.asp

As long as you record what you did today (in all its mind-numbing detail), you can upload it till the end of this month.

As a child, I found History rather a boring subject: but this project sounds like it could be fun, so go on, put fingers to keyboard and have a go!

Thanks for the reference. It was on my local radio here, but it was early in the morning and he didn't speak very clearly. And Google was no help.

I worried about my entry. To be useful 100 years hence I wouild have to, for instance quote the name and reason for the pills I take, and the boring stuff about why I have three sorts of cerial for breakfast. Maybe I will contribute something RSN.

A feature in the Daily Telegraph today:

The biggest "blog-in" in the world proved to be too much for the computers it was aimed at yesterday. By 6pm, almost 10,000 internet diaries had been sent to the servers, more than expected and, inevitably, a blog-clog followed.
"We think hundreds if not thousands of people may have tried to get their blogs in, but not managed it," said Ivo Dawnay, communications director at the National Trust, who dreamed up the idea.
"We would just urge people to be patient. The deadline is not today, it's November 1.
"Just because lots of people have done a blog doesn't mean you shouldn't.
"We are overwhelmed and ecstatic — not just with the vast numbers, but with the sheer quality of people's blogs. There is a strong elegiac feeling to them, a sense of the nation as a family and a poignant and powerful humanity which makes one feel viscerally how every life is interesting and valuable."
