Default FreeHand and EPS file

Freehand MX on OSX: when I import an Illustrator CMYK EPS file into FH onto a background image, the EPS ends up with a white box. Any ideas how to fix it, chaps? (I got round it today by exporting the EPS as a black-and-white tiff, which imported into FH without the box, but I might not be so lucky next time!)

I'm sure this is way too late to be of any help, but did you try saving the AI EPS file as an earlier format AI file?

I'm on PC, but today I had to import several AI EPS files into a FH 10 document. Got it to work by saving the AI EPS files in AI 3 (!) format. Those imported fine into FH, with transparent backgrounds.

Well done, Marlene: I tried saving the eps as Fussy 8, and it imported into MX fine. Now, if only I can remember that trick for next year (we only get one of two FH jobs a year - probably explains why the company was up for sale!)

Oh, good, I'm glad the trick worked for you as well.

Whenever I hit a snag importing an AI file into FH (or CorelDraw, Gawd forbid), I backsave until it works.
