Default Latest IE update and embedded controls.

This week's updates to IE issued by Microsoft change the way that the browser handles ActiveX controls. This affects the way the browser integrates with Quicktime, Flash and Acrobat and others. This is included with other critical security updates, so many users having auto-updated or run the security updates themselves will find this altered functionality. The embedded control will now show as a box, and mouseover will bring up a "play" menu - the application will then run.

Adobe have produced a flash movie showing how to activate the flash reader from IE (really!!!) and also instructions to webmasters on how to embed content so activation is automatic. See here.

Which Internet Explorer version is being updated? The current one, or the beta test of the upcoming one?
