Thanks for your reply!

I decided to mess with the Painter IX demo and give it a couple of pages in my next ezine for the sake of completeness, despite Corel not following through. In addition to receiving someone else's Painter artwork to publish, I came up with some nice effects using source images (which you'll see in the ezine eventually), though it wasn't exciting enough for me to feel I really needed to upgrade Painter--especially since I already have the new Studio Artist 3.5, which I think may well blow Painter away (http://www.hollywoodindustry.com/art...e.jsp?id=37768).

Also, UK's Photoshop Creative magazine (http://www.pshopcreative.co.uk/) has been running excellent tutorials for turning images into paintings.
