Default Headings with CSS

Suppose I have the following HTML:

<h1>Fairmount Arts Crawl</h1>
<h2>Sunday Evening, April 30, 2006 </h2>

and a link to the following CSS:

h1 {font-size: 18pt; font-family: Verdana, Geneva, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; color: black; text-align: center; font-weight:bold;}
h2 {font-size: 14pt; font-family: Verdana, Geneva, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; color: black; text-align: center; font-weight:bold;}

Is it required to come out like this? I mean the spacing.
