Default Alan Alda a Webmaster

I discovered in a recent AARP magazine that Alan Alda, of MASH and West Wing fame, hobby is building websites for his grandchildren (he's 70).

I couldn't find any URL's, but enjoyed the idea so much, I thought I'd share it with the folks here.

Are you impressed because he is so old? I think there must be quite a few 70-year-olds making web sites, no? (Give me another 5 years, and I will be there!) Ah, but if you’re reading the AARP magazine …

Anyway, I couldn’t find the sites he is doing for his grandchildren, but did find a site about his new book with his copyright on it. It was done in FrontPage, doesn’t look half bad (but there is a production credit, so I guess he didn’t actually make it).

Yeah — especially for a movie star!

He, like Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward, has spent some of his time in being a good citizen.

KT,

Partly. Also that he is an actor and celebrity. I found it cool that he is doing something new at his age, and that someone so well known is involved in an area we find so interesting.

My mother is in her ninties, and is convinced that she can't deal with computers. So obviously she can't and doesn't, and can't enjoy the family pictures on my web site.

They seem to specialize in book promotion and have a flash frontend on thier website. Oh well....

As someone who is left-handed, I take a dim view of the phrase "left handed compliment" but surely that's what that is...'-}}

Oh, hell. I am not wiser than anyone! In fact, the older I get the less wise I feel. (Arrogance is a property of the young, I think!).

I fess up — I will be 65 on April 8. So you will be (or are) 58? Let me tell you something: The next 7 years will fly by, but more slowly, I suspect, than the ten after that!

What the hell.
