Default Feb 15: Our last day on CIS

I have just posted a notice on the CIS forum that today will be our last day there.

Here’s what I posted (most of it — and all the charming parts — written by Ann):
Our time here is up. After today, the Desktop Publishing Forum will no longer be part of CompuServe. Our leaving is bittersweet.

After 16 years, this place is full of memories for us all — most of them good memories, and some of them great ones.

We have completed our move to our independent web site — please come visit us there.

Strangely, after so many words over so many years, it's hard to find anything original to say as we turn out the lights. So forgive us if we plagiarise the late, great Douglas Adams, and simply say:

“So long, and thanks for all the fish!”

And see you in the new place.

— Kathleen, Ann, Elyse, and all the staff

I'm glad there is a new place for DTP.

You and Ann come by it honestly. I, however, am a fraud, as I never read Hitchhikers’ Guide to the Galaxy.

But Ann explained it to me the other day, and I do like it.

Thank you, Hugh!

It is proving to be a lot of work, but most of it at least has to do with trying to please our members, which is, after all, what forums are all about!

Truly meant -- some of my fondest memories of DTPForum are of font discussions especially those involving that gang out in Carlsbad CA whose name I cannot retrieve and whose disks I've put safely on one side .....

I went to visit them one time when I was in Carlsbad on other business and had a delightful lunch.
