Corel Painter Essentials 3 appears to be a continuation of what we know as Painter Classic. And maybe this explains why it is version 3. But this time is it not limited to bundling with other products. Corel is selling it along with the rest of their lineup. Read about it in the Press Release and on the Product Page.

I can't figure out what it doesn't have compared to Painter IX...it's interesting that they are selling it separately--I think it used to just come bundled with things like Wacom tablets...

Hmmm...fewer tools in the tools paletter...no brush creator...no channels palette...no as many menus (I think shapes, effects and movie are missing)...

Just took a look...eversomuchbetter!!!

I'll bet those 9 fingers would have driven possible buyers out of the store screaming...'-}}

Too bad they didn't figure that out before releasing Painter!

Many (many!) of the beta testers (me included) were adamant about how much we disliked the 9 fingers but in this case, they didn't listen to us...

I'm not surprised. Corel have never proven themselves to be very responsive to their customer base.
