Default Type design competition

A call for entries to the very first Creative Review Type Design Awards has been posted, with an October 5 deadline.

Any typeface designed, first sold, or first used between June 2004 and October 2005 is eligible for the competition. The entries will be judged on esthetics, craftsmanship, technical excellence, originality, and suitability for use in seven categories: display, text, custom, revival or extension, non-Latin, ornamental, and screen.

The judges are Bruno Maag (of Dalton Maag); Nick Hayes (Identikal); Dave Wakefeld; Fiona Ross; Jason Smith (Fontsmith); and Domenic Lippa (Lippa Pearce). The competition is being run in association with the Typographic Circle.

The link takes you to a page with more information and links to download the entry form.
