Default New computer purchase record

I think the first laptop I bought with help here took me over 5 years. Mainly because I was too sick to get to the store, and I wanted to try before I buy. Subsequent purchases got briefer and briefer. Today i set the all time record. I bought a computer with less than an hour's worth or research. And the research was two online chats with sales people.

So what did I get. The only 14" HP laptop that I could configure with the result having Win10 Pro and an Intel i7. And for all I know, HP discontinued its 14" laptops and I got one of the few remaining ones.

And because I know I'll be asked this, I didn't opt for a SSD (in addition to a HDD) because pondering it was stressing me out and I didn't want to delay. Maybe next time.

My only disappointment in the configuration is I wanted a white computer and they that was not offered. So I got the gold one instead, which was the only not-silver one available.

If you have any intention to buy Office (and especially if you have an Office license and plan to use it to install Office on the new PC), you'll want to use Control Panel | Programs & Features to completely remove the trial version before doing anything else.

And if you have no intention of using Office, you might as well do the same.

HP Usually have superb manuals on line that you can download -- like these for service people but very useful eg on how to access things like hard drives for replacement

http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c04582281

or this one for their service people

I think your model only takes one drive but if you want to replace the hard drive with a SSD it's not difficult

re HP Manuals

There's probably a better user manual than anything that comes with the PC but I didn't have time to look for it! Hopefully .....
