In Outlook itself, Hugh.

"a number of users have report significant issues (as in, a totally bolloxed system) with whatever is the most current Win10 update..."

That's why I wanted the Pro version. MS tends to release these things gradually, monitoring to see what the results (or damage) might be. That's one of the reasons for the Insider program. If too many crash dummies ... er ... coal mine canar... INSIDERS get whacked, MS can quickly pull the update.

I figure by delaying, I can at least avoid the worst of them.

There is one trick that might work for some: if your computer is Wi-Fi only, you can go into advanced Wi-Fi settings and choose metered connection. Updates will not be downloaded over a metered connection. BUT neither will the system search for a driver for new hardware. I recently had to revert a computer to Windows 7 after several months of fairly happy Win 10 usage. The most recent update bricked the computer! Restore from system image fixed it until the next update! I have another 7-10 upgraded machine where the POS printer stopped working after a recent update. I don't know that machines that shipped with 10 have these issues, but 7 or 8 to 10 upgrades do. I wonder if the guy who wrote GWX control panel to kill the Win 10 upgrade could do the same for auto update.

Are you sure that's not an option you can turn off?

Switch to Windows Live Mail -- it works fine on 7 8 10. Just go to Microsoft to download Windows Essentials and then do Custom and just download WLM, if that's all you need.

Or does Outlook have other uses? If so can you not still use WLM for mail.

I don't have any "since the last MS WUD update" email with attachments but I just checked by re-opening some images sent a while ago and they opened immediately from the attachment link in the message.
