Default I didn't know this

I didn't know that in Windows I can drag a rectangle over the files I want to select.

Yep. I think that goes back as far as Win3.0, and certainly Win95.

You can also drag a rectangle to select a few files then CTRL+Drag another rectangle to add more (non-contiguous) files to the selection.

Sooo...I just tried this and while I can sort of see the rectangle--it's translucent--but one doesn't appear to have much control. Is there a trick to it?

Specifically NOT on touchscreen, or at least not in any intuitive way, or at least not on my Asus touchscreen lappie.

And if you start the clickendrag ON a file icon, it won't work on touchscreen or non; it'll start dragging the file around. You have to click in a vacant area to start with.
