Default Painter 2017

Painter, the natural media software has been flashing an ad at me for while. So I am compelled to post here. Here's a list comparing this latest version to previous versions.

I have not tried this out because there is no point. I'm no an artist. I was reminded of this every time I tried to use a previous version of Painter.

I had a copy of an older version but it stopped working once I upgraded to Window 7, annoyingly, so I haven't bothered since. It's a fantastic program but I don't have the money to justify an upgrade - even that is very expensive!

(TG that Paintshop Pro is still so affordable!)

Yes, the upgrade price is surprisingly high. The cost new is actually low, considering the amount of power it has. But I guess it all depends on what people are willing to pay. I wonder how many people would be willing to pay for that upgrade, though.

Since I was unceremoniously kicked off the beta testing team after testing Painter 12, which pissed me off a lot since I'd been beta testing since version 7 and only discovered I was no longer on the team by accident--they didn't even have the grace to contact me personally--I've not upgraded to any newer versions.

I think the upgrade price of $229 is not terrible--well...compared to Photoshop when they were still releasing real software versions.
