Default Blocking a domain?

I probably should have put this in another section but since I was here already and I'm lazy...'-}}

Generally when I want to put an entire domain into my email blacklist, I usually do something like *@sample.com but, I've been getting spam from places where the final portion is ".xyz" so I blocked it using "*@xyz"--no quotes obviously.

Then I got to thinking about it and wondered if I should have used "*@.xyz"?

Which is the correct approach?

Thanks...

I would have thought you need *@*.xyz

That was another option and I forgot it.

So far, "*@xyz" seems to be working--well...who really knows--and my other mail is still coming through so I didn't screw things up too badly even if the xyz domain spam shows back up...'-}}

Thanks...

That's puzzling. Logically it should only match where it finds @xyz together as a string. Perhaps the software is smart enough to ignore the @ sign and simply check for the string that follows it.

As long as it works stick with it.

Well...my initial setting (*@.xyz) was indeed a bust--had another spam email from "xyz"--so I've changed it to what you suggested (*@*.xyz) which really does make much more sense...'-}}

Thanks!
