Yeah...that's what I figured. The Wolverine that I linked to produced 20mp output but, as I noted, I don't know what the coversion rate is to dpi for a 35mm slide.

Wow! I just checked ebay and the V-800's are indeed pricey but, you could look at the older models--the v500's are about 1/2 the v800 price on ebay. There's a brand new Epson v370 scanner for $116.95 (buy-it-now, free ship) at ebay. Take a look at the specs and see if it might work for you...
