What do you have set in Windows Updates? The thinking is that Microsoft's latest "update client"--appears to control the update process--is resetting the Windows Update option to the default--allow updates--so that if you had Windows Update set anything other than the default, it changes to the default and then downloads an installs any/all updates.

I just discovered that changing the Windows Update Service (CP > Admin Tools > Services > Windows Updates) to "disabled" means that you can't "View Update History" so if you'd like check what updates you have installed, you need to change the service to "manual" to allow your own access--and then back to "disabled".
