Default New Home for CompuServe Forums

As was announced some time ago CompuServe/AOL is shutting down the CS forums as of Dec 15th. A bunch of the SysOps have put together a new place for members to hang out. They welcome old members, current menbers and anybody else who is interested. There are 17 new forums at:
https://www.forumania.com/
The Book & Writers forum new home is at:
https://www.thelitforum.com/
I am sure anybody that wants a civilized discourse and information will be welcome. Check it out.

Thanks for letting us know. I just took a quick look but didn't sign up yet. I have to say, they are very brave to go with vBulletin 5. It doesn't share the high level of quality with previous versions had and it doesn't scale well.

I'm logged in there -- I suggested they check here for vBulletin help!

I wish they gave us threaded view since they don't have the old From To and message numbers of the often much despised webview CIS (RIP)....

The best place for vBulletin 5 support is the forum at the vBulletin website. It has no relationship to previous versions, and so nothing we know applies to it. But I will ask around to see if there is a good independent support forum. And for all I know, they might have solved most of the problems by now.

As for threading, VB 4 was the last one that had threading.

Ah I didn't realize that about threading.

vBulletin 5 has very limited alternative to threading. One can attach a comment to a message and it sits at the bottom of the message. I have not seen a way to reply to that comment, but then again, I'm no expert.

One thing about the VB5 licence is it allows the user to download and install VB4 instead. I don't know if/how this ties into the cloud version, though.

Have a look in Forumania > Tech Help and there are some good tips there including using the #NN message number to link back to a specific earlier message which is a sort of invisible threading and equivalent to what the Norton Forums call Permalink

And invoking the extensive toolbar [A] is helpful especially the Quote.

Another good place for vBulletin support is The Admin Zone
