Default Yosemite (Sam) has got its Spotlight on you!

Just read an article in The Washington Post today that Apple's new OS, Yosemite, is phoning home when you use Spotlight sending all sorts of info back to Apple every time you use Spotlight...

I hate software that is written to contact the mother ship for no damned good or useful reason. It's one of the reasons I use a firewall that works with both incoming and outgoing online access requests notifying me of either and allowing me to grant or not grant access.

Apple have clarified their position and there are lots of links explaining how to stop it happening, but it's pretty insensitive of Apple to do it so sneakily.

I'd use a stronger word than "insensitive". But in general terms, yeah.

One more thing not to like about Yosemite. Another irritation with Spotlight is that the "Show all in Finder" option is at the bottom of the list instead of the top. That is the option I tend to use the most, so now I have to scroll to the bottom of the results list before I can invoke the Finder. It's very inconvenient.

I wonder how long it will take me to get used to natural scrolling and Helvetica as the system font?

I don't know why I find it odd that Helvetica would be the system font but I do...'-}}

Helvetica certainly wasn't designed for legibility on screen.

I've chose not to upgrade at this stage, waiting to see how the dust settles.
