Default I can get Kindle books!

Sometimes I really am a slow learner. I've had an iPad since soon after they first came out, but have been ignoring anything to do with the Kindle all this time.

Then yesterday I was reading in a forum not related to DTP when one of the members, totally non-techie, mentioned in passing that she had a Kindle app for her iPad and had bought the Kindle version of the recipe book under discussion.

So now I also have a Kindle copy of that recipe book and will buy more - and not just recipe books. Just think - no discovering that the great recipe book I've just bought is very tightly perfect-bound and thus impossible to use as a result, or discovering that an important ingredient has a huge blob of something obscuring the name or quantity. The iPad will show me two pages nice and flatly, and any mysterious food spills can be wiped off. Plus there are plenty of other books to buy and have with me all the time.

Welcome to the digital age!
Even the wife have arrived - ever since she got her Note 2 she's been watching videos and reading books on it. Alas no recipes so far!

I've got quite a few books on the iPad, just not Kindle ones till now.

I like them for train trips to the city and waiting at the doctor's. Don't like touching the magazines, because apart from being old, they're covered in sick people's germs!

Although some of our trains have free WiFi now. I just can't be sure of getting one of those.

I gave my wife a Nexus 7 for Christmas - with some recipe apps pre-installed.

iPad, iPod, computers, iPhone, Blackberry ... you can read Kindle books on pretty much anything but the refrigerator (and probably that if it was made in the last couple years).

Yeah, I'm kicking myself for not thinking to check a long time ago.

Shocked you didn't know! "There's an app for that." Thought for sure I'd mentioned reading Kindle books on my Droid in bed at night. (Didn't have a tablet then.) Still prefer the actual Kindle for daytime reading but it really is nice to be able to use my other devices when needed! I was going to leave the Kindle home and just take the tablet to Africa as my all-purpose device - got it all loaded up with a nice selection of books, too. But now I can use it as my nighttime reader instead of my Droid if I want.

Re: Kindle cookbooks ... have a few but always interested in recommendations. No rush, though, as I'm afraid it will be awhile yet before I can do much cooking. Surprised how much I'm missing it.

I think I was just remembering the restrictive conditions from the early days and didn't even think to look.
