Default Postbox (beta) for Mac

Postbox is a Mozilla-based e-mail client for the Mac, now in beta. It appears to be aimed most directly at Mac Mail (or at the Eudora wannabes, maybe).

It has many features (too many? hard to say without working with it for a while).

Among the interesting features are database-based anti-phishing and malware services; many ways of organizing e-mail, including an archive that gets it out of site while still searchable; image galleries (thumbnails of images embedded in or attached to e-mails; conversation views that string e-mail threads together; and to-do lists (so e-mails requiring time to think do not get lost).

Seems to have many web-related features as well.

That looks interesting. I'm not up for a beta right this minute, but I've marked it. Maybe when I get a new computer soon and have a backup. Thanks.

Hah. I had the same reaction, though a different reason — changing e-mail software is a royal PITA.

But Eudora is aging even faster than I am, so the day is coming when I will have to change. This one looks better than most I have considered.

It's been my understanding that Eudora was defunct "any day now" for the past couple of years. It's done well hanging in there<G>

Yes it has. But I have seen the writing on the wall …
