Default RAID 1 Mirroring - USB Drive

RAID 1 Mirroring on a USB drive from a fast laptop is the request from an engineering consultant friend of mine. He wants the data files of his proprietary program to be mirrored on a USB drive as he works on the laptop. The proprietary program is available on a backup laptop, so only the data files are at risk in the laptop.

Here is some software.

I don't know if this does the job, or if some other software would be better. Please note that backup is not what is wanted. Real time mirroring is what is wanted.

Can a USB drive be a mirror? I suspect not--at least in a true RAID configuration...

Do you mean USB drive as in a USB flash memory device or as in a HDD with a USB connector?

HDD with USB connectors can be found here.
USB flash memory devices (and floppy drives for that matter) can also be used, but I haven't found an easy to set up and use solution. Perhaps someone else knows more.

This article about flash memory as RAID solution at least verifies that it can be done, but doesn't clarify how to do it.
