Default UK's Kalender and other calendar software

UK's Kalender is the best calendar software for Windows I've found. Today I checked the web site for updates and the site appeared to be gone. But as I learned later (see below), it was a problem where Internet Explorer and Opera could not see the site.

Anyway, as I was looking for information I ran into a couple of calendar review pages.

I'm sticking with UK's Kalender for now, but some of the calendars on these pages look interesting.

Temporarily down? Looks like it is up and running at http://www.8ung.at/ukrebs/ for me.

All I see is an empty screen with some Google links at the top. It looks like a domain park page.

Are you seeing more than that?

I certainly do! A frameset, menu on the left, "UK's Kalender
Current Version: 2.1.4 (01/07/2007)" on the right, with a large screenshot and a little intro text.

However.... if I look at the source I see a googlead section above the (incorrect) DOCTYPE declaration of the frameset. Furthermore, the frameset isn't closed, and it's followed (again incorrectly) by an (empty) body tag that has no business being on a frameset page...

That could confuse some browsers (but FF seems to ignore it - to my great disappointment).

Thanks, Marjolein! I should know better than to use IE 7 as my double-check browser for Opera. I should have used FireFox.

I don't see the ad, but that's probably Adblock's fault. The page looks OK, but Marjolein's right, if you look at the HTML, you'll clearly see why some browsers may have a problem. I was using Firefox, but a quick peek at IE 7 and I see that it only displays a Google ad bar.

Thanks, Carl. I contacted Ulrich Krebs and he fixed the site. He also told me that the address at www.8ung.at/ukrebs is going away. The next home page will be http://freenet-homepage.de/ukrebs/

Well, almost. He's still using a Transitional instead of a frames DOCTYPE, and there's a spurious extra > after the closing </html>. But most browsers would ignore that.
