Default Adobe pdf to jpeg conversion - it won't work!!!

Hello All,

I have a normally appearing pdf that I produced using LaTex (and Ghostscript). With Acrobat Professional, I am trying to save the file as JPEGs and when I do, ~5% of the pages turn black. Here are examples:

Bizarre output:

Normal example:
http://www.mcatpearls.com/2.jpg

Does anyonw know what could explain this?

Desperately thankful and happy Holidays!

I do not know, but the “Bizarre output” jpg does not show on my screen — the forum software says it cannot be shown because it contains errors.

What you describe rings a faint bell with me, though I am not sure of the context. Others here may be smarter (or have better memories), so let’s hope someone pops up.

But tell us which version of Acrobat Pro you are using — 7, 8, or some other.

And happy holidays to you. (The good page is very pretty.)

Default so frustrating...

Hello Kathleen - thank you for your quick reply!

I posted the pdf so that you can see what I'm working with:

(I am using Adobe Professional 7.0.8) - thank you (and all) for your time!

I converted your pdf using Acrobat Pro 6 and there was no problem. Are you trying to convert the whole book in one operation? If so, it might pay to process the pages in small batches. Have you tried converting the problem pages singly?

I do find sometimes when a pdf file fails to print after x pages that I can print page x+1 by itself and then print the rest of the file. I imagine it's caused by a memory overflow or somesuch.

I'm getting an error, too - but it is the browser generating that error, not the forum software: the file's URL is in the browser address bar, so the forum software doesn't play any role - it merely made the
link for the URL available in the message text.

However, when I download the file, I find I cannot "see" it with a shell extension utility (which shows images right in the context menu) while I can open it in PSP 7 (which tends to be failry forgiving of format errors). When viewed with a little file viewer, all I see is solid bright pink (!). I suspect there really is a (small) format error in the JPG encoding, or possibly it is a format the browser and some utilities do not understand but more-capable image editors do?
