Default Anyone got Quark 7 on PC?

I'm having some issues with a printing company that is apparently opening my Quark 6.5 files in Quark 7. Some type is shifting position, tracking I've added after drop caps (to keep the caps from touching the adjacent text) has disappeared, etc.

What I'm hoping to do is send a sample one-page Quark 6.5 doc to someone who can open it in Quark 7 and send me a PDF of the results.

TIA,

mxh

Oh, yuck. And I suppose they have adjusted their workflow so it depends utterly on version 7? Otherwise, why can’t they open the file in 6.5 and go on from there?

I thought we were past all this nonsense. And it isn’t even a cross-platform issue here!

I just had a long talk with the prepress dude, and it turns out that they can. I think they just didn't remember from month to month that we were having the spacing issues. My output report specifies what version I used, but I need to make sure I tell them specifically (and frequently) to use 6.5 when they open my files.

And we decided to try going the PDF route. I am distilling a press-optimized PDF right now -- which will probably take 3 or 4 hours to upload, at my cable modem's pitiful upload rate -- and if that works, we might quit sending native files at all.

My only qualm about sending PDFs is that it becomes difficult -- or impossible -- for the printer to make blueline changes. But we'll have to work around that.

Maybe there won’t be any blueline changes.
