Default Adobe Proxy "magazine"

I just received an email from Adobe about Proxy which is apparently Adobe's new pdf "magazine"...it's really rather odd becuase when you click on the link, it appears to be opening a pdf but none of the pdf Reader options are available--like Zoom...

Personally, I think the layout and design appears to have been done by kindergarteners as it's both chaotic and much of it is unreadable since the Zoom tool appears to be missing and they use odd color combinations that don't enhance readability...

Basically...it's pretty ghastly...

You can judge for yourself:

1st Issue:
http://www.adobe.com/special/magazin...1_number_1.pdf

2nd Issue (even worse than the first issue):
http://www.adobe.com/special/magazin...1_number_2.pdf

Terrie

PS..if you would like to subscribe (not sure if it's free...it should be as it's so ugly), see:

It’s free. It would have to be, wouldn’t it?

Agree with your every word. Self-indulgent self-expression in the name of design. Exemplifies most of what is wrong with graphic design today.

Hrrrmrmmmph.

What's that old saying..."you can't even give it away"??? Applies to this I think...

I thought it was just awful...did you get that odd pdf display with no Reader controls?

Ugh. Let's see ... has the word "hideous" been used yet?

Did you send in the comment form on the last page? I just asked if it really was a design magazine from Adobe or some sort of spoof.

Much of it seemed totally illegible on screen and the rest was difficult or tiring to read so I gave up pretty quickly. It looks as if it was designed for paper but I didn't want to waste any of my Epson ink finding out it it would be more legible printed out.

Dreadful. However from Adobe's point of view, it's great. They have disposed of their mailing costs, and the printing cost has been shifted to the end user too.

I did print a couple of pages but of course on a desktop printer you wind up with a white rectangle framing the page design.

You just have to dig out your trusty old XActo knives and trim away the border! Where’s your spirit of adventure? <g>

<Self-indulgent self-expression in the name of design.

You said it! Also applies to text editing --in the name of what, though-- territorial marking on the author?

Yikes. Reminds me a little of the dreadful fad in the 90s of bizarre fonts for text, often tiny and reversed out of an image or color, and running right off the edge of the page. What was the name of that magazine that became (in)famous for that look and where is it now?
