Default Can't see latest posts

This is weird: I can see the forum sections on the main board, with the latest post title alongside it but, when I click on the section name, the post isn't shown until I refresh the page. I must have something set wrong somewhere: any ideas?

Also, I've turned on Remember Me at login but it, er, doesn't!

They hardly ever do (at least, in Windows). The advice of the experts here is not to ever log out, and it seems to work without discommoding anyone.

I would love to help you with this, but I cannot figure out what isn’t working.

Are you coming in each time as a stranger, then logging in? (Sorry if I sound dim — want to figure out how to help.)

This has only started happening recently, and I can't figure out if I've changed anything. The forum now remembers me (it greets me with a cheery "Welcome Robin Springall"), but I have to refresh each sub-forum to see the latest messages. Actually, it behaves the same on a Mac as well as a PC.

Can the sysops do something like resetting my prefs?

I do not understand this and do not (at this moment) know what we can do other than delete your registration and ask you to re-register.

But we will look into it. Very sorry you are having this problem.

Like Kathleen, I'm scratching my head on this one.

Until we sort it out, can I suggest a slightly different approach that might make it easier for you to see the new messages in the meantime?

Click on Get Posts and select New Posts from the dropdown.

The thread titles will be on the left, and the forum names on the right. If you don't want to read all the new messages, but just those from certain forums, look for the forum name on the right, but click on the thread title on the left.

In the meantime, I'll try it your way with a standard username I have, and see if it is happening to me there. We haven't done anything at all with the board settings, or upgraded the software, so it's hard to work out what is happening. Have you made any changes to your User profile recently?

OK Anne, will do. I changed my profile recently to show messages from the past two weeks. I can't see how that would change things, though.

Somehow my bookmark switched from a www-prefix to no prefix and it took me a few days to realize that I wasn't actually logged into the forum when viewing messages. Make certain that your browser can save the username/password at the forum entry page.
