Default Paint Shop Pro X has arrived

As of today, it's official. Corel announces Paint Shop Pro X, along with Photo Album 6. You can see the announcement here, along with a list of new features.

Ouch. A tad on the pricy side... I was thinking of giving it a try, but...

No street prices yet, but it will probably get down to $89. Maybe $79.

BTW, Corel set up its PSP X newsgroup and the comments are starting to come in. Here is the address:

In the PSP X newsgroup, they are talking about newspaper ads last weekend for Best Buys selling it for $39.99 after discounts and mail in rebate. This in the stores, not the Best Buys web site. And as of today, the sale seems to still be on.

That'd be fairly close to where I might try it. My problem is that I'm really not sure it offers all that much more than PSP7 in terms of what I really use.

I know how that goes. I test drove Photoshop CS2 and the new features were not ones I would use. So I didn't upgrade.

Ditto. Heck, I'm not even using everything from CS. But I do like PSP better for red eye and for color replacement, so having both for me makes sense. So if it's gonna cost me $100+ to upgrade, I'll stay with what I have now!
