Default Font Color

Hi. I'm trying to find an ink color for the type on an invitation. I would like to use a taupe to match/compliment the metallic gold border. Can anyone suggest a CMYK breakdown for taupe?

Well, I may have a different definition of "taupe" than you do, but, looking in my Pantone Process Color Simulator guide, I've found a bunch of colors in the "taupe" category and one that I think would look OK with metallic gold is (assuming this is on coated stock) 0C 6M 15Y 23.5K. A slightly darker version is 0C 6M 18.5Y 43K. Other "taupes" in the guide appear either too pink or too grey to my eye to compliment gold.

Is it a four colour print job? If not, then you don't want to use CMYK colours, but Pantone spot colours. The cost savings will be significant.

Yes, it's 4 color. The colors you listed, Elyse, do resemble what I was looking for. I played around with the colors and found 0, 30, 60, 30 to work the best for my invitation. It's got a bit more of a gold undertone than a taupe I suppose.

Glad you found something that'll work.
